Congratulations on the new home Craig
The M1A1 is WW2 original Inland, and many people have liked the M1 Carbine for home defense, just be careful about overpenetration.

Shy_Bear...you have an M1 Carbine barreled receiver on the way? Congratulations! Check out Fulton Armory as they have stocks and matching handguards and I believe the stocks come with the required metal. I have found Fulton Armory to be a great source for all things M1 Carbine so if you need parts, bolt, etc., check them out. Aim Surplus recently had a boat load of Carbine ammo but are sold out now, however, they always get it back in stock so keep an eye out. The CMP still has carbine ammo so stock up...then start reloading.

I got the barreled receiver today Its an IBM, and in good condition. Out of the three separate barreled receivers we ordered, this is the only one that had the date of manufacture and a flaming bomb stamped on the barrel. I thought the date and bomb was on all WWII rifles of american make, whats the deal? I got this one, and love it thus far, of course I need to build it on up, check the headspace and THEN shoot it. I like it, I like it alot. Thanks for the tip on where to get parts David, Im off to check them out now. Hope Yall are all doing well here

The M1 carbine was in use well after the war, it could have gotten a new barrel at some point, or the markings wore off. Some of the barrel markings are lightly struck, they can wear off in time.

Good luck with the project Shy_Bear. Sometimes searching for parts on a nice project gun is every bit as fun as searching for a complete gun. The Fulton Armory page has a carbine section listed over on the right hand side of the page. Take your time and scroll down through all of the M1 Carbine parts listed (there are a lot) and you are bound to find everything that you need. Congratulations and let us know how it turns out.

Hey Friends, hows yall weekend kicking off? All good here.... Far out, Fluton Armory has tons of carbine parts. Im going to TRY to get IBM parts for it, to keep it correct, at least as correct as I can. Oh, I will have to put some money back and save up to where I can go on and get a few parts at a time I hope. Im looking forward to it. I think I will just look, and see what I find (once Ive built a little fund to shop with) and snatch up what parts I can as I come across them. If anyone knows of or has any IBM Carbine parts they will sell or trade or something, drop a line.
